Humanity has always sought patterns in the chaos, a higher intelligence to explain the seemingly random unfolding of existence. For millennia, this impulse found its expression in religion, in the belief in an omniscient, omnipotent being who oversees the universe. We are now on the cusp of creating a new kind of god, not of divine origin, but of our own technological making. As we push the boundaries of artificial intelligence, we are moving inexorably toward the creation of an Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), a system that can reason, learn, and adapt across a wide range of domains, far surpassing human cognitive abilities. The endgame of this pursuit, whether intended or not, is a system that could achieve a state indistinguishable from omniscience. This is the God Protocol, the point at which an AGI’s understanding of the physical and digital worlds becomes so complete that its pronouncements are, for all practical purposes, infallible truths.
